What is aeration? To put it simply, aeration is punching a bunch of holes in your lawn so that it can breath easier. Aeration removes little soil cores from your lawn & deposits them above the thatch of the lawn. These cores are 2"-3" deep & only about a half inch in diameter. In heavily compacted soils with clay content- such as we have here in our area- this allows the ground to take a "deep breath" & better utilize nutrients & water.
