The entire Hansen’s Tree Service team invites you to welcome John Harvey, our new Plant Health Care Manager.

John joined us in mid-March and brings more than 35 years of experience in plant health care with him. In the Plant Health Care Manager role, John will oversee all areas of our Plant Health Care Service, from working directly with our valued customers in assessing their needs and developing short- and long-term plant health care protocols, to scheduling, to working with the crews and doing everything necessary to ensure our customers get the best possible service.

John is an ISA Certified Arborist, an ISA Qualified Tree Risk Assessment professional, and a Tree Care Industry Association certified plant health care technician.

In his four decades as a local tree and plant health care professional, John has become an expert in the soil conditions, effects of weather, and the numerous other factors that can make growing healthy trees and successfully caring for all landscape elements a challenge in the Midwest, specifically in the St. Louis area.

“We really see it all in this part of the country,” John says. “We have extremes in weather, from frigid temperatures to summers in the triple digits, drought conditions, windstorms, tornadoes, ice storms, heavy snow, flooding … you name it, and we get it. We also have some difficult soil conditions in many areas, with high clay content throughout the area along with some locations that don’t drain well and are almost marshes.”

John relishes the challenges that come with plant health care in the Midwest, as well as the opportunity to serve Hansen’s customers. “There’s no doubt about it; things are never boring in the St. Louis area,” he says. “But people who live here understand that very well, and when you can provide them with tree and plant health care that gets great results, they know that takes experience and a great deal of skill.”
